Security has priority - introduction of a UTM firewall

Rose Systemtechnik mbH is a medium-sized manufacturer of high-quality industrial enclosures based in Porta Westfalica! Embedded in the Phoenix Mecano AG Group, the company has a global presence. Approx. 500 employees work at the main site of Rose Systemtechnik GmbH in Porta Westfalica, of which approx. 150 work in the areas of ‘Administration’, ‘Sales’ and ‘IT’ as well as ‘Development’ and ‘Design’. For these employees, the use of the Internet as a source of information is indispensable nowadays. In modern companies, a large part of the company's capital is in the form of ‘electronic’ data. Protecting this data is therefore one of today's top priorities. Negligence here can sometimes have fatal consequences!

Internet security has of course been an issue for the IT department at Rose Systemtechnik for some time. In the past, historically grown isolated solutions in the area of proxy servers and content filtering were used to secure Internet data traffic. The employees in the IT department quickly learnt that the individual solution elements had to mesh together like cogwheels in a clockwork mechanism. It became clear that the permanent fine-tuning of two different systems to each other, which serve the overarching topic of security, means a considerable administrative effort in practice and consumes valuable time. This not only unnecessarily restricts the productivity of the IT department, but also of all users!

One of the top maxims of modern German companies facing global competition is effectiveness. This also applies in particular to the IT department as the important backbone of every company. This prompted the search for a solution that would combine the various security aspects in an easy-to-use solution. In the search for a suitable solution, the system house ‘Computercentrum Lübbecke GmbH’ recommended the company Securepoint from Lüneburg. The computer centre had already implemented successful security projects with Securepoint products. The UTM solution from Securepoint fits perfectly into the range of requirements. A solution that is supported via existing contacts was very much in line with Rose Systemtechnik GmbH's ideas!

The Computercentrum organised a demonstration environment together with Securepoint. The UTM system was then put through its paces by the IT department. In addition to the technical elements, the haptics and usability of the solution were also rated as very good. The fast, German-speaking and competent support was also convincing, which was very high on the list of priorities. Once the decision had been made, the solution was integrated into productive operation. The integration of the appliance into existing corporate structures went smoothly and any open questions could be clarified very quickly with the help of the support team.
